About Physiology

Physiology is a premier review journal published jointly by the American Physiological Society and International Union of Physiological Sciences; therefore, having broad reach. Physiology publishes invited short-format review articles written by leaders in their fields. These reviews are not designed to be comprehensive but instead focus on major cutting-edge advances in different areas of physiology, highlighting what is known and especially unknown on the topic. In particular, we encourage authors to be forward-thinking, and to identify the conceptual and transformative framework for the area that will drive research in the future. Read more


Dr. Sieck

Dr. Sieck received a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Nebraska in 1976 and thereafter trained at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was a faculty member in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at UCLA, the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the City of Hope, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California before joining the Mayo Clinic in 1990, where he is presently the Vernon and Earline Dale Professor and Distinguished Investigator in the Department of Physiology & Biomedical Engineering.
