Inositol Lipid Metabolism and Intracellular Signaling Mechanisms

JR Williamson

Many hormones and neurotransmitters act by raising the intracellular level of free calcium in the target cells. The calcium is released from internal calcium stores, and this article discusses the links that exist between receptors in the cell membrane and the mobilization of calcium from these intracellular stores. Inositol lipids play a key role in these events.
