Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Human Cognition

C. M. Michel is with the Plurifaculty Program of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Functional Brain Mapping Laboratory of the Department of Neurology; M. Seeck is at the Presurgical Epilepsy Evaluation Laboratory of the Department of Neurology; and T. Landis is Head of the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital of Geneva, 24, rue Micheli-du-Crest, CH-1211 Geneva, Switzerland.
It is still largely unknown how the complex cortical neural network of the human brain can process information so rapidly. Multichannel evoked potential recordings with millisecond time resolution and spatiotemporal analysis methods now allow us to address this question and to unravel the temporal dynamics of the large-scale neurocognitive networks.
