The Physiology of Aldosterone Secretion

Aldosterone is the major mineralocorticoid hormone of all mammalian species and is only secreted by the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex. The control of aldosterone secretion remains one of the more intriguing problems in the field of endocrinology. The complexities of the system are manyfold, involving multiple stimuli and inhibitors and possibly multiple biosynthetic pathways.
