A New Approach to the Physiology of Lipid Transport

TG Redgrave

Lipids are transported in the plasma in large, complex aggregates. Their size and composition as well as their interaction with plasma proteins to form lipoproteins are important. The protein moiety plays a major role in mediating lipoprotein uptake and metabolism by tissues. Lipid emulsions of desired composition can be prepared, and their handling when injected into intact animals yields important insight into the metabolism of natural lipoproteins.
