Modern chronopharmacology investigates how drug effects vary with biological timing and endogenous periodicities. The goal is to improve the understanding of periodic and thus predictable changes in drug effects, and a specific aim is to solve problems of drug optimization. Knowledge of those administration times that coincide with the highest effectiveness and/or tolerance is required to optimize both timing and dosage of a medication.
