Cellular Basis of Aminoglycoside Nephrotoxicity

R Hori and K-i Inui

Nephrotoxicity, produced by aminoglycoside antibiotics, is now being studied in a useful model of cultured renal cells. These studies could provide new insights into an important clinical problem by disclosing the transport mechanisms of aminoglycoside into the proximal tubular cells and the cellular characteristics of nephrotoxicity.
