What Is New in the Chemistry of Endogenous Digitalis-Like Compounds?

J-F Cloix

Methods of measurement of endogenous digitalis-like compounds (EDLC) involved in some pathophysiological conditions are based on biological properties of cardiac glycosides, mainly inhibition of Na-K-ATPase. The origin and putative chemical nature of EDLCs is still questionable and has been reported to be fatty acid, peptide, steroid, or lignan.
