Control of Prostaglandin Production in Human Amnion

Prostaglandin (PG) synthesis is a vital part of parturition initiation and maintenance in humans. A principal source of PGE2 is the fetal membrane, amnion. Evidence is presented that amnion PGE2 synthesis is independently regulated at two levels: arachidonic acid mobilization and metabolism.
