How Does Single Chemically Gated Ionic Channel Work?

Interaction of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor in nerve cell of mammalian sympathetic ganglion with a transmitter results in the appearance of a burst of the channel openings. Reduction of disulfide bonds in receptor protein removes the bursts, leaving only the channel single openings.
