Establishment of Optimal Juxtaglomerular Cell Models

BM Rayson and SJ Cannizzo

Circulating renin is synthesized, stored, and released from juxtaglomerular (JG) cells, first identified in 1925. A range of JG cell systems has been developed to promote the characterization of the regulation of renin synthesis and release, with some recent success. Each approach, though, remains subject to specific drawbacks.
