Amino Acids as Central Neurotransmitters in the Baroreceptor Reflex Pathway

The baroreceptor reflex is the principal mechanism by which the central nervous system regulates arterial blood pressure. As studies begin to unravel the identity of the central neural pathways and neurotransmitters that mediate baroreceptor reflexes, amino acids appear to play the major role.
