About the Cover
On the cover: Bone marrow cell transdifferentiation.
Cardiomyocytes (red;
-sarcomeric actin) and coronary
vessels (yellow;
-smooth muscle actin) were
generated by injection of male bone marrow cells in
the infacted area of female mice. The male phenotype
of the formed cells is shown by the nuclear
localization of the Y chromosome (white fluorescent
dots). Confocal image obtained by J. Kajstura. See
Leri et al., p. 162.
