On the cover: Red blood cells and blood vessel of a mouse
yolk sac at 9 days of gestation. The primitive red
blood cells, shown in green, express green fluorescent
protein (GFP) driven by the epsilon-globin promoter. The
blood vessels have been highlighted by injecting
TexasRed-tagged dextran directly into the heart of the
